Learning how to post on Instagram from a PC or Mac can save you time and give more flexibility. What social media manager wouldn’t want that?

Method 1: How to post on Instagram from your computer using Creator Studio

If Instagram is your social network of choice and you don’t mind not having all your social networks in one dashboard, Creator Studio could be a good option for you.

How to post on Instagram using Creator Studio:

  1. Make sure you are Connected to Instagram in Creator Studio.
  2. Navigate to the Instagram section.
  3. Click Create Post.
  4. Click Instagram Feed.
  5. Choose the account you want to post to (if you have more than one Instagram account connected).
  6. Add a caption and a location (optional).
  7. Click Add Content to add photos or videos.
  8. Next, choose between these 2 options:
  9. Click From File Upload to upload new content.
  10. Click From Facebook Page to post content that you’ve already shared on your Facebook.
  11. (Optional) If you want to simultaneously post this content to the Facebook Page connected to your Instagram account, check the box next to your Page under Post to Facebook. You can add additional details to your Facebook post after you publish to Instagram.
  12. Click Publish.

Method 2: How to post on Instagram from a PC

If tools like Hootsuite or Creator Studio are not an option for you, you can post on Instagram from your PC using Developer’s tools.

First, make sure you have Google Chrome. If you don’t have Chrome, download it from here.

Follow these steps to post on Instagram from a PC:

  1. Go to Instagram.com on your Chrome browser.
  2. Go to the settings of your browser by tapping on the three dots on the right side. From there click on More tools then Developer’s tools.

  1. You’ll then see the developer window for Chrome, which looks like this:

  1. This window allows developers to test and debug their websites and apps—but we’re going to use it for Instagram. Tap the mobile button.

  1. Then select which mobile interface you’d like to use under the dropdown window.

  1. Once you’ve chosen a mobile interface you’d like to use, refresh the page and you’ll then see the mobile interface on your browser. You are now able to post on Instagram from your desktop as you would on your phone!

There’s also a host of third party apps you can use to post on Instagram from your PC, such as BlueStacks App Player.

This app was originally created as an emulator so you can play mobile games on your desktop—but you can also use it for Instagram as well!

Simply download the app onto your desktop. Then download Instagram onto BlueStacks. Once you log in, you’ll be able to post on the app as if you were using your mobile device.

Method 3: How to post on Instagram from a Mac

To post on Instagram from a Mac, you can use Google Chrome just like in the directions above. Or you can use Mac’s default browser Safari.

For Safari, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Instagram.com on your Safari browser.
  2. Go to the Preferences menu of Safari. Click Advanced.
  3. In this menu, check the box next to Show Develop menu in menu bar.

  1. The Develop menu will now appear at the top menu bar. In the Develop menu, click User Agent, then choose which mobile interface you’d like to see. It should populate with the latest iPhone iOS.

  1. The web page will refresh once you make your choice. You can now upload posts onto Instagram from you Mac the way you normally would with your mobile device!

Flume is an app tailor-made to bring Instagram to your Macbook. You’ll be able to scroll through you feed, and like and comment on posts…

And yes, you can post to Instagram via Flume.

Simply, download the app. Then log into your Instagram account and start posting!

How to edit an Instagram post from Mac or PC

If you want to edit the image before or after it’s posted on your desktop computer, simply follow the directions on how to post on Instagram from your desktop. This allows you to access the developer mode, giving you a mobile view of Instagram.

From there, you can simply follow the normal steps you would to edit a post from Instagram:

  1. From developer mode, go to any of your posts.
  2. Click on the three dots in the right corner.
  3. Click on Edit.
  4. Edit the caption, hashtags, location, or tags.
  5. Click the blue check mark in the right corner when finished.

Easy as that.

How to delete a post on Instagram from desktop

Hootsuite doesn’t currently allow you to delete a post on Instagram. However, you can still do it from your Mac or PC through the following steps:

  1. Go to Instagram.com and find the post you would like to delete.
  2. Go to developer mode on either Safari or Google Chrome (see above section if you need help).
  3. Click on the three dots in the right corner.
  4. Click on Delete.
  5. Confirm by clicking Delete again.

And that’s it! As you can see, the steps are the same as they would be if you were on mobile.
