First, the backstory: In the last quarter of 2019, I suffered massive setbacks in my offline business (won’t make excuses, I sucked at managing it). I had to make money somehow, and in the country where I live, it’s nearly impossible to get a well-paying regular job without an attractive college education.
I was determined to make money in some sort of online (non-tangible) / info type business which doesn’t require capital to start and doesn’t have any expensive overheads. I settled on Upwork as my platform for experimenting since I had an old Upwork from 2013 (it was called oDesk in those days).
With limited experience in freelancing, I wasted a lot of time trying things that didn’t work. Applying for jobs endlessly, without any response. But in that process of bidding on hundreds of jobs, I developed and refined an approach that worked magically for me. I started getting responses from prospective clients for 3 out of every 10 jobs I bid on. In the next 8 months, I made more money from Upwork than what I had made slogging two years in my offline business.
In this earning guide, I’ll show you how to create and get your Upwork account approved, optimize your profile with an attractive portfolio, get your first few reviews and start making decent money on Upwork. I’ve also shared the exact template I use while applying for a job and explained why it works - every time.
My Upwork account might be the most valuable asset I own, and there is no better time than now to start making some significant money from Upwork.
